I agree that industrial design as a discipline is one of the ancestors of digital product design today.

But the subtitle is a bit misleading as it mentions design discipline started with Loewy. Before being a discipline and taught in schools, first industrial design practices start with industrial revolution, which is around mid-18th century. Later it is institutionalized around 1910s with Bauhaus. If you mean first popular industrial designer, I would say Raymond Loewy is a post-war era star designer and probably among to 4th generation of famous designers.
